Biannual features an intersection of styles — workwear, skate, it girl — that mimics a millennial desire for pairing the unconventional together.
Born from creative director Dani Roche's unexpected closet and eclectic resume, Biannual speaks to change and newness in an ever-changing landscape — saturated with social media stars and fleeting trends.
"In my design practice and through my work with Biannual, I look to dismantle tropes and increase the bandwidth in which style can reach. I’m a pretty decisive person but I hate picking favourites and I hate the pressure we have to identify in a society that should promote fluidity instead of boundaries. Biannual is designed to showcase dualities, an unconventional approach to style, and an accessible and inclusive approach to fashion. The cuts – inspired by the ever-prevalent “blob” silhouette – inherently defy traditional concepts of beauty or femininity. While society has become increasingly accepting of “alternative” forms of beauty, we still hold conventional ideals of what it means to be 'attractive'."
Launching in September 2017, Biannual's inaugural collection will be available at select international retailers as well as online, here.
